Needle-felted sculpture - Winter Woman
Who is she? I've been calling her 'Winter Woman' as I thoroughly indulged in the wet-felted clothes part of her creation and she's now wrapped up in many layers. She may be dressed for winter, but she's also quite happy to be seen! No camouflage in her attire - or her hair for that matter. Vibrant and mystical, I have a feeling she could confidently guide you through the darkest wood.
Construction & details
Handmade and unique - this OOAK sculpted figure is 17" / 43cm tall & stands with the aid of a Hawthorn staff.
Her body has a wire armature and needle-felted wool covering. Many hours go into creating a needle-felted person. It's strangley satisfying and occasionally painful!
Her clothes are wet-felted using merino wool and other wool/silk fibres to add embellishment. Her hair is a chunky acrylic yarn.
I use also use chalks, paints, false eyelashes, and various beads and other items for accessories.
Although she has a wire armature, it is not recommended to bend the arms and legs (except for making minor adjustments to her stance) as this weakens the wire.
Definitely not a toy and should not be given to children (I've seen what they do - it's not pretty).
