Needle-felted sculpture - Abundance
Who is she? I wanted to create a figure who represented abundance. Partly inspired by Autumn and partly by the recognition that we experience abundance in many forms and ways. Her offering is symbolic - she has a platter of jewels, but it could represent anything at all - joy, wealth, luck, friendships, love ... you get the idea. She's dressed for a chilly Autumnal day - even down to her mittens and soft boots.
Construction & details
Handmade and unique - this OOAK sculpted figure is seated (she does not stand) and is 12" / 30cm high overall (smaller than most of my felted folk).
Her body has a wire armature and needle-felted wool covering.
Her clothes are wet-felted using merino wool and other wool/silk fibres to add embellishment. Her hair is a chunky acrylic yarn.
Her offering consists of various pieces of small jewellery, beads and chains. Everything is securely glued in.
I use also use chalks, paints, false eyelashes, and various beads and other items for accessories.
Although she has a wire armature, it is not recommended to bend the legs (except for making minor adjustments to her seated position) as this weakens the wire. Her arms are attached to the platter!
Definitely not a toy and should not be given to children (I've seen what they do - it's not pretty).
